My wife says these twin storms look like a big pair of nostrils. I’m seeing things a lot differently.

It’s ok. Differences like this are natural. The key is juggling and holding these diverse viewpoints.

We recognize and respect that each has merit and validity even though none is the only truth.

In fact, maybe that’s part of what makes relationships work. You don’t have to see the exact same thing. You just have to be able to look at the same thing together, appreciate that the other person sees something you don’t, and occasionally agree to disagree about whether you’re looking at a pair of nostrils, a giant pear, or something else entirely.

And when an actual storm is headed your way, it probably helps to have someone beside you who sees things differently. One person notices the wind. The other notices the clouds. One worries about the roof. The other remembers to bring in the patio furniture.

Different perspectives. Same storm. Same team.

I’d say it’s one of the top reasons we’re still going strong after all these years.

Do you have any observations or advice to add?

BTW — Thanks for all the texts and calls, friends. We’re keeping an eye on Hurricane Polo and taking it seriously, but so far we’re good. ❤️
